The Vintage Tack Room & Play Barn sits comfortably within Aston Spring Farm just off Mansfield Road, offering more than your typical café visit. It’s a spot that naturally attracts parents looking for a relaxed break where their little ones can burn off energy safely. The presence of a soft play area and jigsaws means this café has become something of a local go-to for families with toddlers, especially on dull or rainy mornings when outdoor activities are less appealing.

The vibe inside leans towards casual and welcoming, with friendly staff who seem genuinely invested in helping visitors settle in and enjoy their time. Being able to keep an eye on children through a play area visible on a TV monitor adds a layer of practicality that parents appreciate, allowing adults some breathing room to enjoy their coffee or chat without constant running after toddlers.

Coffee options are straightforward but solid—the usual range from flat whites to mochas and americanos—and pair well with simple treats like toasted teacakes or milkshakes, which have been praised for standing out. Pizza also plays a surprisingly strong role on the menu, often described as having a well-crafted base and quality toppings; it’s easy to see why people rate it highly, though portion sizes and pricing raise some eyebrows among locals.

Its location next to the farm makes it a convenient stop for families who want to extend their day out; kids can swing between the play barn and the farm itself without it feeling like a hassle. Booking the venue for events such as children’s birthdays also seems to work smoothly, with the staff supporting set-up and party needs, making it an adaptable community space as well as a café.

For anyone with young children or those after a relaxed coffee spot where the usual noise of busy family cafés is managed well, The Vintage Tack Room & Play Barn provides a practical balance of food, play, and community warmth. Mid-mornings during the week or weekend afternoons when the farm is open could be the best times to drop in and make the most of the combined indoor and outdoor offerings.

Called in for coffee. Good place for Mum's and toddlers as they have a play area.

Really lovely milkshakes and brownies, my brother had the pizza had he said it was the best pizza he’d ever had (very bold claim!) Only problem here is the price. Very expensive for quite small portions.

We love this place and have spent many a rainy morning here. My two year old loves the soft play area and selection of jigsaws, the pizza is delicious, as are the coffees and toasted teacakes. The staff and owners are so nice and friendly. And despite there being lots of children, it's always really clean! It's right next to the farm which my son also loves. It's such a nice change from the usual soft play centres with awful food, bright lights and no atmosphere.

We hired this venue for our daughter’s 1st birthday. The staff were brilliant, super helpful and friendly. The pizzas were brilliant and we were able to set up decorations and back drops etc before the party. The kids loved the play area and it’s great that you can see them from the cafe via a tv screen. I thought it was good value for money and the guests old and young loved it! Thanks again

We spent the the best part of the whole afternoon at the vintage tack room. The pizza’s were great, super bases and the coffees and ice creams really topped the lunch off. It’s kid friendly, no issue with the children coming and going between the table and soft play area. Having the soft play monitor within the restaurant is a good touch allowing the adults to have a good blether.

Lovely place to go for some lunch after visiting the petting zoo. The pizza was so good and definitely can be shared between two people. We took our 9 month old son and he had a kids sandwich which was great. The ladies working there are so friendly and so helpful.
